I have eaten a fair amount of Ethiopian food. I grew up in Washington DC and the Bay Area has amazing Ethiopian establishments. Cafe Colucci in its current iteration is my favorite. I am not entirely certain why their food is so delicious. My friend and I were speculating. Are the vegetables fresher? Are the spices a higher quality?
Ethiopian food is among my favorite of all cuisine, and as someone who's tried nearly all the ethiopian places in Oakland, LA, and other cities, Colucci might just be #1. Most dishes are pretty healthy so for anyone nutrition conscious or with a sensitive stomach, this should check all your boxes. Their new location is AMAZING. Tons of space, dog friendly, incredible aromas, and wonderful staff.
First thing I knew was the heavenly waft of spices carrying me in from the sidewalk. Like what?!?! There's no way that's legal. My mouth instantly watered! Love the atmosphere. From how clean it was to the set up. Everyone was so amazingly kind and explained all of the food to me.Let me tell y'all, if I lived here I would be eating here way too often.
